Surrounded by rich forest resources, Hida Takayama has had a thriving woodworking industry since ancient times.

The craftsmanship of Hida has been passed down over a long history and is still alive today as traditional and local crafts, 

and both Hida Shunkei and Ichii Ittobori have been designated as national traditional crafts. 

Currently, the ``Hida Traditional Crafts Exhibition'' is being held at the Hida Takayama Town Museum in Kamiichinomachi, 

where works that highlight the exquisite and delicate skills of craftsmen are brought together.
